The Zoom H6 Handy Recorder is a compact audio recorder that has two microphones as well as four quarter-inch or XLR inputs. It records directly to an SD Card and has a headphone jack for monitoring your audio input. It can even record from the microphones and inputs simultaneously.
The XYH-6 X/Y capsule comes standard with the H6. The capsule adds two matched high-quality unidirectional microphones which are sensitive to signals coming from directly in front, and less sensitive to signal coming from behind or from the sides; in technical terms, they are said to utilize a cardioid polar pattern. The angle of the two mics can easily be changed from 90 degrees to 120 degrees for a wider stereo image.
The Zoom H6 also comes with a MSH-6 Mic. Although the MSH-6 MS capsule appears to be just one microphone, it actually contains two mic elements, positioned directly on top of one another. One of the microphones inside the MSH-6 is unidirectional (that is, it is mostly sensitive to signal coming from directly in front, and less sensitive to signal coming from behind or from the sides) while the other is bi-directional (that is, it is mostly sensitive to signals coming from directly in front and directly behind, and less sensitive to signal coming from the sides).The basic concept behind MS recording is that the Mid microphone picks up signal coming from the center, while the Side microphone creates ambience and directionality by adding or subtracting information from either side.
Q: What counts as a “day?” and when do I pickup and drop-off equipment?
A: The pickup day is the first day of your rental and you may pickup as early as 8am. You must return the item by noon following the last day of your rental. For instance, if you select 3-day rental, picking up on Monday, then your return day will be Thursday by noon.
Q: Do you count Sundays?
A: Yes Sundays do count as a rental day.
Q: How do I return if the drop-off day falls on a Sunday?
A: In this case, you must return the equipment Saturday by 6pm.
Q: What’s the earliest I can pick up equipment on the day of my rental?
A: We open at 8am. If you need the equipment earlier than 8am, you must book and pickup the day before.
Q: How late can I return the equipment on the day of my return?
A: We close at 6pm. We do not have a drop off service. If you need the equipment later than 6pm on your return day, you must also book the following day and return on that day.
Q: Why is it saying “This block cannot be booked?” when I choose a date?
A: The block cannot be booked because someone else has booked the equipment for all or part of the time you have requested. You may also want to confirm that you have not already added the booking to your cart.
Q: Will someone teach me how to work the equipment?
A: We recommend that you view our tutorials in the resources section (you need to be a MEmber to unlock this section). If you need basic training or just have a quick question, our Studio Manager will be available to help.
Q: How do I cancel or change a booking?
A: Please call our studio manager during normal business hours to cancel or change a booking, 412-404-2868. We may retain 20% of your booking as a non-refundable fee for cancellations.

In addition to the rental agreement on our website, you will be asked to sign a rental agreement in person, provide your address and present a valid form of identification that matches the credit card on your MEmbership. We have rights to refuse service if you do not adhere to the guidelines as outlined in our rental agreement.Please view our rental agreement prior to checking out.

Bookings of equipment where total value exceeds $5000 or where they are unique circumstances may require a certification of insurance and/or additional forms of identification.
